Subject: SLG Client Alert: Landlords: Take Action to Preserve rights to Collect Rents no Later than July 31, 2021!

Under recently enacted AB 832, in order for residential landlords to reserve their right to collect rent that is unpaid at any time from March 2020 through September 30, 2021, the tenant must be given (1) written notice of the amount of unpaid rent, (2) notice that if they have been impacted in specified ways by COVID-19, they cannot be evicted as long as they have paid 25% of the rent owing, and (3) a copy of a declaration for them to complete if they are alleging that they have been impacted in those specified ways by COVID-19.
